Alternative site....

Just to let you all know that I also post cards on the I Love My Cricut And I Live In The UK Facebook site. It is a closed group so you'll have to send a request to join, but it is a great site for troubleshooting (especially if you have an Explore) and showcases some fab cards and other Cricut generated crafts. I tend to post more on the FB site so if you want to see more of my cards I will be there! I will occasionally post here too.

Liliana....

I was asked to make retirement card for a colleague of my hubby.
The brief was ski-ing/sailing
so I went with ski-ing as I have made a similar card in the past. The card is A4 in size and I used both pearlised and glitter card with the addition of some snow-glitter and a piece of silver cord for the ski lift cable.

Trio of cards....

October is a busy month for me, cardmaking wise. I have five cards to make this month. Here are the first three...and there is not a bit of Cricut generated stuff on any of them! I needed to make three cards  on the same day, so I used one design and changed the centre panel on each card to suit the occasion. The first card was for our niece Tara for her birthday, the second for my brother Nick and SIL Lisa for their anniversary, and the final card for our friends' daughter Rhea for her birthday. The card bases are 7" square and the central panel images are from Papermania's Art Deco, and Time to Party collections.

Anniversary Wishes.......

My nephew Dan and his wife Sarah (she of the previous post!) celebrated their third wedding anniversary on 18th August. I saw a card on Pinterest that I liked and made this card using the heart element. The card is 8" square, papers are from The Promise by First Edition. The hearts were punched from various papers from the pad, and adhered with foam pads over silver thread wrapped around an embossed central square panel. I added gems to the spaces between the hearts.
The corners were die-cut from pearlised cardstock, and the Happy Anniversary was die-cut from glittercard. The number 3 was cut from glittercard and shadowed with white pearlised card. It was adhered to the card with foam pads.

Sarah......

It was my nephew Dan's wife Sarah's birthday last month and this is the card that I made for her. I used an 8" scalloped square card base, and the patterned paper was from a magazine freebie. I rounded the corners of the paper and mat so that it fit neatly into the scalloped corners of the card.
I cut a smaller square of white card, embossed it with a Sue Wilson Art Deco folder, then adhered it to a scalloped square. It was adhered to the centre of the card with foam tape. I cut the chandelier from black Mirri and adhered it to the card with foam pads. I added teeny pink bows and teardrop shaped gems to the bottom of the chandelier. 'Sarah' was cut from black Mirri, decorated with clear gems then adhered with foam pads. To finish I added die-cut corners and  happy birthday (another magazine freebie), a bow to the top of the chandelier and a smattering of gems.

Filigree wedding heart

We went to the wedding of the son of one of my hubby's colleagues last month. I made this card in quite an unusual palette for a wedding card. It is oyster, the papers coming from the First Edition 8x8 pad 'The Promise'
The heart was cut from ivory pearlised card and backed with an embossed heart cut from oyster coloured pearlised card. The filagree heart was topped with two smaller hearts, one embossed and the other stamped with the 'Happily Ever After' sentiment. The corners of the card were embellished with die-cut flourishes and the card was finished with a sheer bow and flower and a smattering of pearls.

Something different.....

I've been playing with vinyl! Only this was made with Fablon, much cheaper than Cricut vinyl. I bought a pack of four canvases from The Range for £5. I then painted the canvas with white acrylic paint to 'key' the surface. I then added tan paint with a make-up sponge around the edges for a distressed look.
I then cut out the phrase from black Fablon. I had the blade depth on 2 and the pressure on low ( 3 bars). After weeding out the excess vinyl, I used transfer tape to lift the words from the backing paper and transferred it to the prepared canvas. I used a soft cloth to press the vinyl onto the canvas.

Congratulations and celebrations....

I made a couple of commission cards a couple of weeks ago for the same customer. I bought a new(old) cartridge from ebay to make the smaller A5 card, for a hairdressers 50th birthday. Extravagant maybe but it was cheap, and I'll get plenty of use out of it.
The silver anniversary card is A4 in size and made from pearlised white card and silver Mirri, with Cricut-cut tags and names. The corner embellishments are die-cut. I finished the card off with white, sheer ribbon, a sheer flower and silver pearls....

..this card was created with white card stock and purple Mirri card. The numbers and name were cut from purple glitter card shadowed with purple Mirri. The hair drier and curling tongs were cut from purple and gunmetal Mirri. The flexes are ribbon scraps. Happy Birthday was die cut from purple Mirri card. The card was finished with a purple satin bow and heart-shaped gem.

Be Beautiful.....

Apologies for the long gap in posting. I have no excuses! I made this interlocking gatefold for my most recent workshop.
The card is A5 in size, and the papers are freebies from an old issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft
I stamped a sentiment in the aperture.....
.....and another sentiment inside.
The fancy corners are die cut, as is the sentiment label, to which I added a stamped sentiment. I added a smattering of iridescent sequins to finish.

Boutique for Sofia.......

Krishnan's girlfriend had her birthday last month, and this is the card that I made for her using a freebie HunkyDory kit from last year. The card base is an 8" scalloped square. I matted the spotted paper onto gold Mirri to match the trim on the three panels, then adhered the panels with foam tape across the centre of the card. I added a sheet red ribbon and bow, sentiment, a smattering of red gems and 'SOFIA. Cut from red glitter card.

Camper van 60th....

I made this card for a commission last year. The client wanted a card for his Mum's 60th birthday featuring a baby blue Volkswagen camper van. I knew that there were no VW's on any cartridge so I Googled an image and used it to cut the van from two shades of blue card stock, trimmed with silver Mirri. The card base is A4 and I used some pretty funky paper from an old DCWV stack. The letters and numbers were cut from contrasting paper, shadowed with blue card stock. I embossed a piece of green card stock and adhered all the elements with foam pads onto it. 'Happy Birthday' is an XCut die.
