Beautiful bags........

Our niece Tara, and friends' daughter Rhea both had birthdays last week. They are both very trendy, so I thought that a handbag card would go down well with both of them and there's nothing like killing two birds with one stone is there? When you can cut two handbags, why not cut four?! I love this bag cut, and it can be as dressed-up or plain as you like. For these bags I chose red (yes, it IS red!) snakeskin-style paper, and zebra stripe cardstock. The bags were cut twice from white card, then once from my chosen papers. The white cardstock bag cuts were adhered together along the top, then the patterned paper bag was adhered to the card base. Both bags were trimmed with a strip of paper fringed with shredder scissors, then studded witrh brads. The bag tops were cut from black mirri card, and holes were punched with a Cropodile to thread black cord through to create the handle. I coloured plain pearls with a black ProMarker for the clasps, then adhered them to the bag with PVA glue. I used a Marianne die to create a couple of flowers which were adhered to the fringing with silicone glue. To finish the bags, I created two 'bag charms' using head pins and alphabet beads and fixed them to the bag handle with jump rings.
I covered the inside of the cards with contrast paper, created a pocket to hold a sentiment card and cut Happy Birthday from black cardstock which was adhered to the pocket.
