Feel better soon.....

My auntie went into hospital last week for an operation, so I sent her this card to (hopefully) cheer her up. I used papers from the First Edition 'Bird Song'  8x8 stack and two of my latest aquisitions, cartridge wise.
The large lozenge shape on the front of the card was cut from embossed cardstock (the embossing isn't deep so it cuts ok) and embellished with a bloom cut from shimmer cardstock (it looks a bit like a triffid!). I added a couple of little butterfies and some punched flowers with pearl centres. The sentiment (which cut beautifully!) was also cut from shimmer cardstock, layered up and adhered with foam pads to the card front.
Carts used:
Flower - Kate's ABC (such a cute cart!)
Sentiment & shaped panel- Phrases (Boy! Was this cart  a long time coming!)

Hope you're all having a great weekend!

A Shoe shop for Menai.....

The eldest daughter of some very good friends of ours had her birthday on Tuesday, and this is the card that I made for her. I'd seen a similar card in the U.K Cards 'bookazine' (sadly no longer available) It was a stamped card so I tweaked it a bit to make it suitable for a Cricut card! I used papers which were a magazine freebie, some gros-grain ribbon and a blowsy bloom. I cut three stands from silver mirri, and a selection of shoes, cut from glitter card and shimmer cardstock. The stands and shoes were adhered above the punched, ribbon-trimmed border with foam pads. I flipped one of the shoes to make a more appealing arrangement. 'Menai' was cut from pink mirri shadowed with blue, then adhered above the ribbon with foam pads. 'Happy Birthday' was computer-generated onto Safmat, then trimmed and applied above the name.
A gem was adhered to each of the stands, and a trio of gems to the ribbon to complete the card.

You Float My Boat......

The ladies who come to my Cricut workshops will recognise this card as I made it for the 'Men's Cards' workshop. The backing papers were from a download, unfortunately I can't remember where I had them from! The panels were matted onto red cardstock, and I added a blue panel embossed with a 'Wave' Fiskars Texture Plate. I cut the motor boat from silver mirri then backed it with white glossy cardstock, cutting away the excess. I added a red mirri 'go faster' stripe then adhered the boat to the blue panel with foam pads. The sentiment was cut from red mirri with blue mirri highlights, then adhered below the boat with more foam pads.
A trio of Card Candi Dots completes the card.

A First!!!!.......

No, you needn't go to Specsavers! That is definately NOT English on the front of the card. It is, in fact, Hungarian- Boldog szuletesnapot means 'Happy Birthday'
I made this card for a colleague of my hubby, who wanted a card for his wife. I had no brief, except that the greeting should be in Hungarian and A4 in size, so I came up with this and fortunately he loved it! I used Papermania oriental papers and shimmer cardstock for the sentiment, vines and butterflies. The bird was cut from First Edition 'Birdsong' papers. I added some olive green ribbon and some punched/embossed flowers with pearl centres to finish.

Wedding Waterfall......

In all my years of cardmaking I have NEVER made a waterfall card. I saw some demos on Youtube and they didn't look TOO complicated so I thought I'd give it a go. And this is the end result, and I have to say that I was pretty damned chuffed with it. I used some funky background paper from Dovecraft's Black & Gold A4 pack, and plenty of gold mirri. This is the first panel, which was decorated with a 'Mr & Mrs' icon cut from gold mirri (as are all the elements except for the final element which was cut from white glittercard) then adhered with foam pads.
The second panel is a wedding & engagement ring.....
....the third panel some embossed bells (well, debossed actually as I put them in the folder wrong side up!)...
...and the final panel, a glittery white cake on a golden stand!
Each of the panels were embellished with gold mirri punched/embossed flowers and pearls.
Gold ribbon, a bow and 'Congratulations' cut from more mirri card completes the card.
These are such fun to make that I made a few more- which I'll show you in time- and I'll be making MANY more.. you should know me by now!

Have a merry day!.......

OMG!! HARRY POTTER ROCKS!!!
Went to Port Solent on Sunday to see HP2...It was fantastic...worth all the hype.. and a fitting end to the HP saga. We saw the 2D version as we'd heard that the 3D effects weren't brilliant...and we weren't disappointed. Go and see it if you can, but take a hankie!
Anyhoo, on to the card. Another super simple one along the same lines as the Ferris wheel card a few posts ago. I used papers from the First Edition 'Bird Song' 8x8 stack. I embossed a piece of white cardstock and adhered the carousel- or merry-go-round depending where you come from!- which was cut from Papermania shimmer cardstock, with foam pads. I decorated the carousel with some gems and a rose and sheer ribbon bow. Green ribbon was wrapped around the white panel before it was adhered to the card  front with foam tape. I used the same stickers that I used on the Ferris wheel card, for the sentiment, but again a computer generated Safmat sentiment would work just as well.

Bryn.........

One of the little Boyz Next Door had his birthday at the beginning of this month. His name is Bryn and he's the cutest little lad on the planet! This card was made with one of newest aquisitions (there've been two more since! Still, my birthday money'll pay for them!) I used Basic Grey papers and textured cardstock for the Cricut elements. I cut the train, helicopter and racing car from the textured cardstock, then adhered them to 2 1/2" squares embossed with a Metal Plate embossing folder. The finished squares were adhered with foam pads in a staggered fashion vertically on the card. I added three Candi dots and the 'BRYN' cut from more textured cardstock. 'Happy Birthday' was computer generated onto Safmat, applied to a white recatngle of cardstock- I rounded the corners-matted onto black, then adhered with foam pads above the name.

Tri-Fold Anniversary.......

I was watching Debbie Moore on Create & Craft yesterday (as you do) and she made a 'staggered' tri-fold card. Hers ended up as sort of a  DL but I wanted to make a C5 card so I worked out some measurements using a piece of A3 card cut to 16" in length. I scored it at 2,4,7 & 10 inches, leaving a 6" panel for the back of the card. I then trimmed the folded card down to 8" high. The card was then decorated with gold mirri and Forever Friends 'Black & Gold' A4 Dovecraft papers. The couple image was cut from black glittercard and adhered  over a gold heart to a shaped panel, with foam pads. The initials on the small shaped panel are my sister Valerie and her hubby Steve's, for 'tis their anniversary today! Happy Anniversary!!
'Anniversary' was cut from more black glittercard, and 'Happy' was cut from gold mirri. Both elements were adhered flat to a third panel along with three punched hearts. I punched some flowers from gold mirri, added black centres to the larger flowers along with gold pearls, and black pearls to the smaller flowers. They were then arranged around the couple image on the centre panel. A ribbon trim and a bow to the smallest panel completes the card.
Carts used:
Couple and large heart- Sweethearts

You make my world go around.......

I saw a card whilst blog hopping, with a stamped Ferris wheel and this sentiment on it, and decided to have a go at re-creating it by substituting the stamped Ferris wheel on the original card with a Cricut generated version, and I have to say that I was chuffed with the finished result! I  can't remember who's blog it was (it was a while back) but if you recognise your card in my version I'd be happy to acknowledge it if you contact me!
The card was simplicity itself to create, with only one Cricut cut. I used First Edition papers, Papermania Shimmer Cardstock, some sheer ribbon and a smattering of gems, both on the card and the Ferris wheel. I added a gem to each of the little 'pods' on the wheel and a bow with a rose to the centre. The finished wheel was adhered to the front of the card with foam pads. I used some ancient stickers from my stash for the sentiment, but you could also computer generate the sentiment onto Safmat..

Happy Birthday Valerie........

It was my birthday on Tuesday, and the day after it was my sister Valerie's Birthday- there's three years and a day between us, she being the younger- and this is the card that I made for her. I used First Edition 'Bird Song' papers from the 8x8 stack. The background paper has large stylised pink flowers on it and the smaller paper panel has cute black birdcages with little pink birdies in them. I added a piece of punched black paper behind the panel before I adhered it to the card. I cut two vine borders from Papermania Shimmer cardstock and adhered one vertically and the other horizontally to the front of the card. I cut a black bird cage from more shimmer cardstock and adhered it over the join in the two vines. The bird was cut from pink spotted paper from the paper stack, then adhered to the cage with foam pads.. A smattering of teeny punched paper flowers were added to the vine. Pink glitterglue was popped into the centre of each flower. A scalloped frame cut from the same paper as the bird, shadowed in black, with a patterned paper backing holds a Safmat computer-generated sentiment . 'Sister',cut from shimmer cardstock, a trio of pearls and a floral embellishment on the sentiment frame completes the card.

Sole Mates.......

This is such a cute card IRL. I love the colours in it, and it is really elegant. I think that it would make a great Engagement/Wedding card. The card base is a 5 3/4" square and the papers are Forever Friends Black & Gold A4 fom DoCrafts. I used black cardstock & gold mirri card for matting & layering and some gold ribbon from my Christmas stash. The flower is  from The Works with a gold pearl brad added to the centre in place of the pearls that were originally there. The sentiment & shoes were cut from Papermania Shimmer cardstock and were adhered to a shaped panel, which was adhered to the card front with foam tape. A smattering of gold 'pearls' complete the card.

Chelsea......

Chelsea, my great-niece, was six last week (she's six going on sixteen!). She has a mini-moke bike that her Daddy bought her, so I thought that this little sweetie would be ideal for her card. I used Dovecraft Celebrations papers, Papermania Shimmer card and some glittercard. The little girl on a bike was cut from blue glittercard with a pink shimmer cardstock shadow, the '6' was cut from glittercard as was 'CHELSEA'. The layout was simple, just two panels (again!) with the smaller panel decorated with two different patterned papers and a ribbon & bow. The little girl was adhered with a Papermania spring, the '6' with foam pads & 'CHELSEA' was adhered flat. An acrylic flower that I've had in my stash for yonks completes the card.

O.B.E Congratulations....

The wife of a Medical School colleague and good friend of my hubby (and mine of course!) was awarded an O.B.E in the Queen's Birthday Honours List (her husband got one last year) and this is the card that I made for her...I must get my hubby to deliver it- it's no good gracing the top of the aquarium is it?!
I used wedding papers by Papermania (simply because they were muted colours and printed with delicate pink & beige roses) Again the layout is simple- I'm using it a lot lately!-with just two panels. The smaller panel was wrapped with sheer ribbon and adorned with a Prima rose and self-adhesive pearls. All the letters and the sentiment were cut from pink cardstock shadowed with cream pearlised cardstock, then adhered to the card with foam pads.

It's a zoo in here!....

Have you ever had the feeling that you're living in a zoo? Kids running about all over the place, the house is a tip?! With two boys I've had a good few of them I can tell ya!! This is a fun little card with a wibbly-wobbly element. The gorg papers are 'Bazoo' by Helz Cuppleditch from The Range. The layout is simple, just two panels. The smaller panel was wrapped with some furry animal print ribbon, then raised on foam tape. The lion was cut from textured cardstock then adhered with a Papermania spring. I Do.......

I've got a wedding card to show you today. I used Papermania wedding paper on a C5 card. The dress was cut from pearlised card, the top skirt was embossed with a vine embossing folder, and I added a pink sash and some teeny pearls around the neck edge. The suit was cut from grey pearlised cardstock (the tailcoat) a black textured cardstock (the trousers) & white cardstock for the shirt. I added a pink bow tie and a teeny flower (coloured with a marker) to the lapel of the suit. Both were adhered with foam pads to a ribbon trimmed border. A bow, some pearl sprays and a white WOC bloom were adhered to the ribbon. 'I Do' was cut from pearlised cardstock with a shadow, then adhered above the bridal outfits with foam pads.

Film Fan.........

This is a card that was available to make at my last Workshop. One of my ladies, Barbie, and I had similar ideas for this card, this is my take on it! I used papers from a Madaboutcards hobbies download. I matted the paper onto red & black cardstock and then added a 'big screen' cut from silver mirri with rounded corners, matted onto black cardstock. I added the words 'film fan' cut from black cardstock, and adhered with PVA. The popcorn box, coke cup and ticket were all cut from white cardstock backed with red. The popcorn was cut from vanilla cardstock and adhered to the box with foam pads. For the coke cup, I cut a strip of cardstock the same length as the straw, drew red stripes with a marker pen, then adhered it over the original straw. I also coloured some 'coca-cola' on the drink cup with marker pen. All the elements were adhered with foam pads. 'Happy Birthday' was cut from black cardstock adhered to white cardstock, then matted onto red and black cardstock. The finished sentiment was adhered above the 'screen' with foam pads.

Cheers!........

This is a card that I made for No2 son's friend Lazarus for his 18th birthday (ladies from my Cricut workshop will recognise this one!) I used My Mind's Eye papers for the main front panel and a Madaboutcards free download for the paper behind the beer mug. The mug was cut from gold cardstock and gold mirri. The 'flat' gold card was embossed with a 'bubble' Fiskars texture plate. I added white glittercard foam and then adhered the completed mug to the card with foam pads. I flattened three bottle tops in the Cuttlebug then adhered paper & card circles to each one adding a letter to each to spell 'LAZ'.
'18' was cut from gold card, embossed with the Bubble folder and adhered to the card below the beer mug.
'Cheers' was cut from flat gold & mirri cardstock with a brown shadow, then adhered above the beer mug overlapping the top edge of the smaller panel.
