The key to the door....

Well, I managed to mow the lawn today and dry a load of washing! The shed can wait! It's lovely down here today, a real contrast to yesterday...hopefully it will remain nice for tomorrow but you all know what happens on Bank Holidays! Say no more! Here's another card made from the Mango Frost stack. I covered the front of the card with yellow patterned paper rounding one corner. I added a horizontal panel mounted onto a punched mat and wrapped with ribbon. I added another panel adhered to the card with foam tape. I cut a shaped panel from white cardstock matted onto pink patterned paper. This was adhered flat to the patterned panel. I cut a large key from silver mirri, enhanced it with a dressmaker's wheel and added a layered bloom over a bow. I cut '21' from glittercard and adhered it to the white panel with foam pads. 'Happy Birthday' was cut from paper and adhered flat. Pearl embellishments complete the front. The inside was decorated with a simple punched border and matted sentiment panel.

Just saying Hi.....

Hi All! Hope you are enjoying the long weekend here in the UK. It's wet down here on the south coast- a real contrast to last weekend. I was hoping to mow the lawn and clear out the bomb site that is our shed today, but heyho! I'll make cards instead! For this one I used DCWV papers from the Mango Frost stack. I covered the front of the card with yellow paper and added a blue punched border tied with ribbon. I added another smaller panel adhered to the card with foam pads. A shaped panel along with a larger mat was adhered flat over this panel. I cut the sentiments from more patterned paper and adhered it flat to the panel. I added a layered bloom and some flat backed pearls. The inside was decorated with another punched border and a matted sentiment panel.

Talk of the town...

There are quite a few phone images available to cut from various carts, in various stylies, but this has got to be one of the most elegant! I had real trouble with this baby! It should have been cut with a filagree pattern but my Big Bug chewed it to blazes! These filagree cuts just HAVE to be cut larger than 3 1/2" otherwise you don't have a snowball in hell's chance of getting them off the mat! So after numerous tries and much wasted glittercard :( , I went with the solid version instead. I have to say I prefer it! I cut the phone from aqua glittercard and then added a dial (cut from another phone image) and a large blue gem. I mounted the phone onto a diamond mat which was then adhered with foam pads onto a larger panel decorated with different width strips of patterned paper (that 6x6 pad again) over an embossed white panel. I added 'Talk of the town' cut from glittercard in the space below the phone and a ribbon, bow and bloom to the strip of aqua paper. Adhesive pearls finish the front. The inside was decorated with another diamond mat and a punched border.

Missing you......

I decided to use up some freebie papers for this card, they are 6x6, a size I don't buy because my finished cards are A5 and they aren't big enough, but they are perfect for panels as on this card. I cut a piece of white textured card and matted it onto aqua cardstock. I then added a punched horizontal border with ribbon and two further panels adhered at different angles. The top panel was adhered with foam pads. I then cut a shaped panel, embossed it and added a mat. I cut the sentiment from glittercard and adhered it with foam pads. A layered bloom and pearls finish off the front. The inside was decorated with a large white panel, punched border and smaller shaped sentiment panel.

May Birthday......

Here's something a little different. I bought Designer Calendar a few weeks ago and it's loaded with great images & words. I thought that I'd make a card with a month of the year on it, suitably May! I went with a doiley card for this one, cut on blackout to get rid of the holes in the scallops. I used Bo Bunny papers and an MS punch. I cut 'May' from green script paper and backed with another 'May' cut from card to give it some rigidity. I cut 'Happy Birthday' from purple cardstock and glittered it with Stickles after it was adhered to the card with foam pads. I added ribbon, a layered bloom punched & embossed from the Bo Bunny paper, and some pearls to finish. The inside was decorated with a circle of spotty paper with a smaller circular mat decorated with flowers cut from the Bo Bunny patterned paper.

Cheers!.....

Wow! What a fab weekend we've had down here on the south coast! Breakfast, lunch AND dinner outside-and it's still only May! Hopefully we'll have loads more weekends like this one! It was my BIL Steve's birthday last week and this is the card that I made for him. It wasn't my 1st choice, but the cart I wanted to use for his card hasn't arrived as yet so I had to go to Plan B. I used papers from Creative Cardmaking with a 'booze' theme. There are also some die-cuts with the collection and I've used 2 here- one on the glass and one inside the card. I covered the front of the card with bottle label paper and matted a flat green paper on top of it. I cut the glass from cardstock weight acetate and adhered a piece of shimmer paper behind it, hiding the adhesive with the die-cut label. I added a piece of white card for the froth above the shimmer paper, and then adhered the glass to the card front with foam pads. I added 'STEVE' with mini bottle tops. I cut 'Cheers!' from red mirri and adhered it flat to the green panel. The inside was decorated with a large white sentiment mat with label paper border and another die-cut label.

'Ringing' the changes......

Here's a prime example of a card NOT turning out how you wanted it! I made this card, photo'd it, uploaded it and yet the more I looked at it the more I felt that it wasn't right. So. what to do about it? Eventually I decide that it was the square mat that wasn't 'doing it' for this card. So I changed it to a scalloped circle and it's infinately better! I used the Papermania Wedding papers again and 2nd time around cut a scalloped circle with an embossed circle adhered to it with foam pads to hold the rings embellishment. I added sheer ribbon, a large rose and a pearl spray.I
cut the rings from pink mirri and added a sparkly glittercard diamond embellished with a scrap daisy (from the punched border of the original mat-waste not, want not!) and pearl. I added 3 more daisies above the circle and 'Wedding' cut from more pink mirri below it. The inside was decorated with a simple sentiment mat with punched border and an (over) abundance of punched daisies- too many I feel!

Spring wedding....

The wedding season is almost upon us, so here's one to get us started. I used Papermania Wedding Collection papers. Four designs were used in this card. I covered the front with dark pink paper and added a panel of rose print paper. Another panel with a punched border and wedding words paper was adhered with foam pads over this. I cut out the heart silhouette from pink & cream glittercard and adhered them together with silicone glue for a little dimension. The completed heart was adhered with foam tape. I added a border of roses and swirly print ribbon bow. Tiny pearls were added to the holes in the punched border. The inside was decorated with a patterned paper mat and another heart (shadowed this time) and some punched glittercard hearts.

You're one of a kind!......

Here's a pretty card to start the day with! It's ice-cream colours are yummy and the patterned paper is scrumptious! It has a lovely water-coloured look and the pink patterned paper is the reverse side. The only problem I had with the card was deciding which side of the paper to use for which panel! I accented the papers & the frame with deep pink mats and adhered the narrower patterned panel & frame with foam pads to give dimension. The frame was cut from Bo Bunny polka dot paper and backed with green gingham paper from a Papermania capsule collection pack. I adhered a ribbon and bow to one corner of the frame and a selection of flowers to the opposing corner. I added pearls to the frame and plain pink mat. The sentiment was cut from pink glittercard and adhered flat within the frame. The inside of the card was decorated with more patterned paper and a large white mat with punched paper border.

Glam....

Here's another feminine image from the Summer In Paris cart, this time a very scrumptious shoe! I used paper from g.d.c. called Eye Candy (The Range £19.99) which is full of geometric designs in lovely colours. I used 4 different papers for this one. I embossed the cream panel and edged the border with an MS Daisy punch. I cut the shoe from deep pink (yes, it is pink not purple!) glittercard and blue mirri. I layered them up and added a small Prima and pearl to the front of the shoe. I added layered blooms to the cream panel along with blue pearls coloured with a permanant marker. I added ribbon to the border and 'Glam', again cut from glittercard & mirri. The inside was decorated with a matted cream panel and a solid shoe. I used cream cardstock on this card as the papers have cream instead of white accents and white was too harsh.

Delish!.....

This cake is so pretty that you wouldn't want to eat it I reckon! It looks like it should be a wedding cake but it has 2 cherries on the top so I suppose it's an 'anyday' cake! You could, of course. cut the cherries off and use it as a wedding cake. The cut is very intricate and you don't have a hope in hell of cutting it any smaller than 3"- the cut gets mangled on the mat- and using glitterpaper (which I did!) makes matters worse. I cut the cake twice, once in silver mirri (solid) and again in glitterpaper. I cut off the stand portion of the pink cake and adhered the remaining cut to the silver portion. I decorated the stand with a dressmaker's wheel and some pearls. I used Papermania Henbury Lane papers, an MS Doiley lace punch and a layered bloom. I criss-crossed some ribbon over the horizontal border and added the bloom at the intersection and added 3 pearls onto each of the ribbon bands. 'D-lish' was cut from glittercard and silver mirri and adhered with foam pads to the side of the cake running vertically. Another solid cake was cut from glittercard and adhered inside the card in the bottom corner of the sentiment panel.

I missed your birthday!.....

I'm pretty much up on all the birthday's, anniversary dates etc...it's a good job 'cos my hubby's useless when it comes to birthdays...his family only DO the kid's birthdays..so I don't have to send this type of card very often. To be honest I made this card with absolutely no idea what to put on it..so out came the Wild Card booklet and once again it saved the day! I used DCWV Linen Closet papers and a very simple layout. I used an MS punch on the stripey part of the border and added ribbon and a layered bloom. I cut the shaped panel from white card, with a green shadow then adhered it with foam pads to the front of the card. I added the sentiment cut from brown glittercard, gems and 3 aqua buttons tied with embroidery thread. The inside is very simple with just a patterned mat and a shadowed sentiment panel.

DAD....

Father's Day will be upon us soon, and I think that this card will fit the bill. Unfortunately my Dad is no longer with us so it was with some sadness that I made this card knowing that I couldn't send it, but my sons can use it instead for their Dad. The image is lovely although I think it has more of a Spanish look than French. I used Hampstead papers again (I sure am getting my money's worth from them!) and an almost identical layout to 'Cheers'. I cut the head from bronze mirri and brown glittercard, and added some large letter discs (can't remember the technical name for them!) adhered with silicone. The inside was decorated with a patterned paper mat, a sentiment panel and a bottle/glass image cut from brown card.

'Scent' with love....

Here's a feminine version of the cards that I've been posting lately. I have to say that this card is very pretty in real life! When my boss saw it she snaffled it for her mum! I used lavender & blue papers from Papermania's Henbury Lane collection with silver accents. I covered the front of the card with blue 'bubble effect' paper and added a central panel covered with purple blooms, and then a smaller embossed white panel. I punched a border with an MS punch and added a strip of blue striped paper.I criss-crossed some purple polka dot ribbon across the panel and added a layered bloom to the intersection. I cut the fab perfume bottle from blue glittercard and silver mirri and adhered it with foam pads to the white panel. I cut the sentiment from deep purple glittercard and adhered it flat to the space around the perfume bottle. The inside was decorated with a matted panel, punched border and a solid mirri perfume bottle which was enhanced with a dressmaker's wheel.

The Summer In Paris cart is great for men's cards as there are just as many icons suitable for a man as for a woman..there's the tower image, a car, a man's head, hot air balloon, piano, bike and this wine bottle & glass. It's much more sophisticated than a beer bottle don't you think? I went with the Hampstead papers again and a simple layout. I used a MS border punch on the two borders. I cut the bottle & glass from brown glittercard and gold mirri. I adhered the image to the centre panel with foam pads and added 6 gold pearls along with 'cheers' cut from more brown glittercard. The inside of the card is a simple mat with border and another solid bottle/glass image cut from plain brown cardstock

Merci.....

Isn't this a lovely cut? It is, of course, the Eiffel Tower but could easily be Blackpool Tower! It is after all a replica of the iconic French landmark. I used papers from Papermania's Hampstead collection. This is a really good collection of papers for men's cards. The layout is simple- a rust mat, striped vertical border edged with an MS punch and a smaller mat wrapped with wide mesh ribbon. I cut the tower from copper & gold mirri card and adhered it to the smaller mat with foam pads. I added 3 gold candy dots to the ribbon. I cut 'Merci' from more mirri card and adhered it to the side of the tower, again with foam pads. The inside was decorated with a simple striped mat and sentiment panel and a smaller solid tower.

Ooh la la!!..........

Do you ever buy a cart for just ONE image? I do, and this is it..a french maid of all things!! I think that this image has a lot of possibilities. I was going to do a man's card with something like 'me in this?' on the outside of the card, and 'in your dreams!' on the inside!LOL! In the end I decided on a more feminine card using the scrumptious new Henbury Lane papers from Papermania. The layout is very simple, I didn't want to clutter the front too much and confuse the eye with too many patterns. When it came to the maid I tried several different colour combos...pink/black, white/pink,yada,yada,yada...in the end I settled with white over black. 'Fifi' (I'll call her that!) was cut at approx 4 1/2" in black card and white glittercard, assembled then adhered with foam pads to the pink panel. I added black & white ribbon with a layered flower, sentiment oval and pearls. The inside is very simple with just a punched border and scalloped sentiment oval to finish.

A little bird told me.....

Here's a bright one to start the week for you! This card was made with papers from Creative Cardmaking from a couple of months back. I used a very simple layout for this one with the bird echoing the birds on the paper. I cut a shaped panel for the bird and sentiment to sit on and adhered it with foam pads over the horizontal border strip which was enhanced with an MS punch. I cut the birdy from hot pink glitter paper and added a piece of green glitter paper behind the cut out swirly portion. I also added legs made with little slivers of black card and a black paper eye. The panel was cut from white card and embossed, and the sentiment cut from black card and pink glittercard was adhered flat onto it. I embellished the panel with three tiny flowers, then decorated the inside with more patterned paper, a greeting panel and the 'it's your birthday' sentiment was added with rub-on letters.

From The Heart....

Hope you are all having a good weekend. I made this card a couple of weeks ago and I was not happy with it as it was coming together. I don't know why and I'm still not sure whether I like it or not, but hey-ho, you win some you lose some! I did, however, love the paper- may be that's why I persevered with it- and didn't want to consign it to the bin! I used DCWV Cafe Mediterranean Stack. The butterfly paper is glossy and very opulent, almost oriental. I covered the card with pale yellow paper and added a border strip to the left of the card edged with an MS punch and embellished with rust coloured ribbon and bow. I adhered this to a panel of butterfly print paper and topped it with a scalloped oval frame cut from green patterned paper. The frame was embellished with flowers and pearls. I cut the sentiment from copper mirri and adhered it flat inside the frame. I added a panel of patterned paper inside the card with a punched border and scalloped mat.

Here's another take on the 'girly girly' card that I posted a few days ago. This one is suitable for an older relative or girlfriend. I used K & Co paper again and an aqua/pink colour combo with a flash of black. I cut the shoes & bag from black mirri, and aqua & pink glittercard. 'POSH' was cut from pink glittercard with a black shadow. I added aqua pearl swirls, spotty ribbon and a layered flower to finish. The inside was decorated with a matted panel and lippy embellishment.

Happy Birthday Max......

I made this card for a friend of No2 son. I decided to go down the musical route (all kids like music right?) and hope for the best! I used camouflage paper for the back of the card and musical instrument paper for the front. I made a border from a torn strip of music paper and adhered 'MAX' cut from blue glittercard and silver mirri. I added a guitar cut from DCWV Rock Star stack and happy birthday cut from mirri. I scattered a few punched stars over the front. The inside back was embellished with a '17' medallion, a sentiment panel, guitar and more punched stars.

Girly girl time......

Here's another 3 panel card this time for a girly girl! I used paper from K & Co, five patterns in all! The square panels are 2 1/2" square with a 2 3/4" mat. The long panel is 3" x 7 1/2" long. I added spotted yellow ribbon to the long panel along with a layered flower and 3 pink pearls. I cut 2 icons- a nail polish bottle and sparkly lipstick- from silver & pink mirri card and pink glitter card, assembled them and adhered them into the top & bottom squares with foam pads. I embossed the silver portions of the icons with a Swiss dot folder, and added a tiny glittery flower to each icon. Girl time was cut from pink glittercard/mirri and adhered to the centre square with foam pads. The front was finished with pink pearls on all threee panels. The inside was decorated with a floral mat with white panel and a mirror cut from pink/silver mirri and 3 tiny punched flowers.

You have 24 hours.......

It was No2 son's 17th birthday on Bank Holiday Monday. He's a big fan of Jack Bauer so I thought that I'd have a go at making a '24' themed card. I downloaded a pic of Jack Bauer from Google Images and printed it onto lightweight card, cut it out and then adhered it to some green mirri, cutting it out again leaving a border all round. I matted a piece of camouflage paper onto more green mirri and adhered it to the front of the card. I adhered Jack to the bottom left hand corner with foam pads. I cut out some crosshairs and a grenade from gold/green mirri and computer generated the sentiment. The '24' was created with 9 rectangles cut from gold mirri, and with the aid of a '24' DVD cover for reference, the ends were cut at angles so that the rectangles fit together in the correct way. I then adhered the rectangles with foam pads onto some red mirri and cut around the whole thing. It took me several times to get the cuts right- I used scrap paper first. The completed '24' was then adhered with more foam pads to the front of the card. The inside was covered with more camou paper and crosshairs along with the rest of the sentiment.

Weekend Wedding...

Sorry I've been AWOL.... I was at a wedding in Edinburgh this weekend and I'm featuring a bridal gift and card that I made for the happy couple, Neha & David. We've known Neha since she was knee-high to a grasshopper- her Dad is a medical school colleague of my hubby's- and now she's all grown up and a married lady! The wedding was lovely, a Hindu wedding ceremony in a Scottish country house. I'll post some pics as soon as they are sent to us. Anyway back to the gift. I wanted to give Neha something to keep so I made her this shoe and boxed it. I made both shoe & box from white pearlised card (Becca Fekken has a shoe with a link on her blog-Amazing Paper Grace- in my blog list) then decorated it with lace, white velvet ribbon, pearl sprays and a white camelia. I adhered it to the white tissue paper in the box and sprinkled wedding confetti inside (I added a little bit of glue to each piece of confetti to stop it moving in the box) I then sealed the box and decorated it with peel off border, white ribbon and another flower. The card is a copy of one featured in a previous post. I added the happy couple's names cut from white glittercard and a Safmat computer generated verse. The verse is beautiful..click on the photo for a better view. After I took the photo I added a vellum envelope to the inside of the card front to which we added some money as a gift.
