Happy Birthday David!

It was my nephew David's 21st last week and this is the card that I made for him. He plays the guitar so I went with that as a theme. I used the 'card-in-a-card' format and used black & silver mirri card and some harlequin style card that I've had forever. I cut the guitar from silver card and the harlequin card and layered them up, adding brads for the control knobs and some peel-offs (aaaargggh!) for the fret board. I added the name & some punched stars from the harlequin card to the front of the card & some star embossed silver card and the 'happy birthday' & 'chill out' sentiments to the inside. I managed to add some musical themed ribbon too!

Peace On Earth

Just a bog-standard card today-no fancy folds/cuts or anything! I used paper from Daisy & Dandelion by Design Objectives. This paper is a pretty cranberry colour and I teamed it with some striped paper & holly design paper. I matted the different layers onto pink cardstock and also cut out a white circle with pink scalloped circle beneath it. I added 'peace' cut from pink mirri card, 'on EARTH' using rub-ons and the usual ribbon & flowers. I added 6 candy dots to the front, and a sentiment to the inside.

Boo!!!

Here's another Halloween card, this time suitable for a boy. I used the same papers as for the Flying Tonight card a couple of posts ago, but added a tombstone which was cuttlebugged to give it a stone texture then distresses & doodled, a ghost with googly eyes and a rather menacing looking spider! I also added a few bats, some black candy dots & 'Boo!' complete with googly eyes.

Dash Away All!!

I found this lurvley paper in a box in the garage with all my old Christmas paper in it,there wasn't much left, just enough to put this little number together. I used contrasting polka dot paper from DCWV for the back of the card (it matched pretty well!). I cut a deer tag from green glitter card and matted it onto embossed mirri card. This was adhered with foam pads onto a white panel on the front of the card. I added sheer ribbon & bow, a Prima Poinsetta with glittered rose centre, leaves and a sentiment inside. I blinged up the tag too.

Flying tonight!

I don't DO Halloween especially cards but I loved both this icon & paper so I succumbed! The paper is double sided & I used 2 different sheets of paper. I cut the witch (there are 2 on the cart) from black glittercard & mounted her onto a Cuttlebugged orange circle which in turn was mounted onto a black scalloped circle. I added printed ribbon & a layered flower above it.I adhered a strip of punched paper from the reverse of one of the main sheets, shadowed it with orange cardstock & added some black ric-rac braid to the bottom of the card. I cut a bat from glittercard, added googly eyes & hung it from the bottom of the small card with clear thread. I punched a hole first with a small hole punch. I decorated the inside with more bats & an appropriate sentiment. Whenever I hear this phrase I think of Kenneth Williams in 'Carry On Screaming!' shouting 'frying tonight!' What a hoot!

Skater Girl

This skater icon was soooo pretty that I just had to use it! I cut her from the most gorgeous glitterpaper- it has loads of colours in it but looks silver. When the light catches it it's like Blackpool Illuminations! I cut her from the silver/multi glitter paper & backed her with swirl embossed pink mirri card. I added a silver bow & pink Prima poinsetta with a glittered rosebud centre. I added some bling and silver candy dots. I decorated the inside with some paper strips & punched snowflakes.

Frosty Kisses

Isn't this little chap cute?! He's the nicest looking snowmen yet on ANY of the Cricut carts. Some of them are downright horrible ! I used the 'card within a card' format again and papers from last years DCWV Christmas stack (poinsettas) and Papermania. I cut the little chap as a tag from icy blue glitter card and again as just the snowman from white glitter card. I cut his accessories from red & cream glittercard. I cut the shadow from blue mirri & embossed it with a Fiskars snowflakes texture plate. I layered it up with foam pads and added a printed Prima flower and swirly blue ribbon. I added red gems to the tag. I cut out Frosty Kisses from blue mirri ,embossed it and adhered it inside the card.

Baby Gatefold

Thought I'd try a different fold for a card (and a different occasion!) and decided to try a gate fold. This is A5 size and folded from A4 with a scoring board. I used papers with baby related words for the outside & paper with faint images on them (from The Works) on the inside. I covered both fronts with the script paper and the back with the other paper, both matted onto the relevant coloured cardstock. I cut a 6 1/2" scalloped frame and a smaller panel to fit inside it. I embossed this panel and adhered a small strip of punched paper to the bottom of it. I added ribbon, a bow & pearls. I cut a scalloped oval with the word 'BABY' cut out of it from glitter card. I backed this with a scrap of the same paper as the inside back. I added a layered flower and some leaves and a rattle button which I enhanced by colouring the spots on it with a permanent marker and adding some glitter glue. I finished it with some pearls and then adhered it with foam tape to the front panel. The finished panel was then adhered to the front of the card with DST. I cut 'welcome baby' from glittercard with a plain cardstock shadow and adhered it to the inside back of the card.

Reindeer Greetings

I was really chuffed with this card when it was finished. I think that it looks really elegant-what do you think? I used papers from Creative Cardmaking magazine. I cut the bauble from red glittercard and the bauble backing from gold mirri card, which I embossed with a Fiskars texture plate in the Cuttlebug. I layered the bauble up on foam pads and added a red flower with rose centre and a gold bow. I used gold mirri for the matting and added 3 gold candy dots to finish. The inside sentiment was cut from mirri card and adhered flat. The card looks way better in real life-the colours are much more vibrant!

Baby on the move!

I thought that this crawling baby would make a great 1st birthday card. I used paper from DCWV Nana's Nursery in lilacs & greens. I added some stripey ribbon, buttons,a rosebud and some lilac bling. I cut the baby and 1 from glittercard and adhered them with foam tape. I also cut the inside sentiment from glittercard and adhered it flat. Bon Voyage!

A standard A5 card for you today! I made this card for some friends of ours who were returning to the States after spending several years in London. I used papers from DCWV in a lovely pale blue stripe & houndstooth check and Papermania brown polka dot . I teamed it with brown cardstock. I cut a brown scalloped circle and blue circle & layered them up. I punched a hole in each side of the circle embellishment then threaded blue & brown striped Doodlebug ribbon through and secured it behind the panels. I cut the 'journey' icon and adhered it flat to the circle. 'Bon Voyage' was cut from polka dot paper and doodled with faux stitching. I added a silver aeroplane to the front of the card and a smaller one to the inside along with an 'enjoy the ride' icon.

Ho Ho Ho!

Here's another of my 'cards within a card'. This time I used (shock, horror!!) a READY MADE embellishment, actually a very cute chipboard santa. The card was made in exactly the same way as the previous cards but this time I cut a scalloped mat for the santa to sit on. I added buttons with fine gold thread added to the holes and a wide green ribbon bow and Prima poinsetta. The paper is MME and the ribbon came from (the place that shall not be mentioned) H****C****. I added Ho! Ho! Ho! to the inside of the card along with a strip of word paper.

Aqua twill ribbon covers the join. I added a layered flower with a Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen fabric brad. I cut the image & 3 punched hearts from brown glitter card. Get your skates on!

Here's another card in the same styley as yesterday's. This time I use papers from MME in icy blues and pinks. The card was made in exactly the same way as yesterday's but I changed the icon on the front to a lovely skate. I cut the skate from silver mirri & blue card. I cuttlebugged the blue portion to give it some texture & added some detail with a dressmaker's wheel. I added titchy brads & some fine silver cord for laces. I mounted the skate onto a white circle with a scalloped shadow. I put some glue onto some paper roses then dipped them into Glamour Dust glitter. They were then adhered to the top of the circle above the skate. I added some cracked ice glitter around the circle. I cut a load of leaf branches from green card using the Auto Fill function. I keep these in a little box and I can use them whenever I want! I added a pink dotted ribbon bow, punched snowflakes (Kuretake) & sentiment to finish.

The key to my heart

Hi folks! I have a new obsession! The design of this card is really great and gives you loads of room to create in! I've seen something similar on Create & Craft and decided to have a go myself. I cut 7 1/2cms off the front of an A5 card , then covered the inside back and the front with contrasting papers. These are from The Regency Collection by Papermania. I then made a smaller card (A6) then matted it onto a piece of contrast card then stuck it to the back of the card with the hinge on the right. I decorated the front with a scalloped oval and a heart lock cut from gold mirri then embossed with a Fiskars texture plate. I also cut a key which was hung from the ribbon with a jump ring. I added layered flowers with paper roses, pearl beads & candy dots. I cut out a sentiment & adhered to the inside of the smaller card. I cut a slit in the edge of the card and adhered a punched circle as a tab to hold the card open ( you just slip the tab into the slit) I computer generated the tabs onto white card stock & the slot instructions onto Safmat (you can't see them in the photo 'cos it's on the front of the card)
Carts used:
Sentiment- Ashlyn's Alphabet
Heart padlock & Key- Sweethearts
I've made LOADS of these & I'll inflict them on you in due course!

I've posted this card today especially for a lovely lady called Jenny who came to my workshop yesterday. She was visiting her niece Dee- who was also at the workshop-and she had come from Wales lugging her little bug with her & taking the opportunity to do some crafting whilst she was here. She liked this card and wanted to make one for some friends, I believe. So Jenny, this one's for you!!
This card follows the same design as previous posts (I told you I was luvvin' this layout!) I used papers from a free CD from Papercraft Essentials and teamed them with pink & silver mirri cardstock. I cut 1 scalloped heart & 2 plain hearts (I cut the scallops off!) and added silver mirri Mr & Mrs. Sheer ribbon, layered flowers & pearls finish the card. I added some punched silver hearts, punched border strip & sentiment to the inside.
