Beach Babe!

I bought this beautiful frangipane flower along with many others from Calico Crafts. They come in many summery colours and are great on a more exotic card. I thought that it would suit a beach/summer themed card, and I have had this paper for while so I decided to put them all together & this is the result! I used 2 designs of paper & layered them as you can see. I cut a scalloped circle frame from spotted paper & added a small ring of the word paper around the aperture. I decorated the frame with the frangipane flower & a beach ball cut from the patterned paper. Some spotty ribbon & a spotty fabric brad adorn the flower. I cut the Beach Babe sentiment, stuck it into the aperture & glittered it.

I Miss You

Firstly-sorry about the awful photie for the inside of this card! This card is very simple. Just 2 panels of contrasting paper matted & layered ,then adhered to the front of the card. Ribbon is adhered across both panels. A layered flower with a Laura Ashley fabric brad in the centre, and some bling adorn the ribbons. A simple panel of cream cardstock holds the sentiment.

Add another candle!

This green paper is soooo pretty with little pink parcels on it and I couldn't resist using it! I also used some pink grid paper with little coloured dots as a contrast. I cut out a frame, glittered it and blinged it up. I added scrumptious bright green polka dot ribbon, a polka dot layered flower and this gorg cake complete with candles! Deep breath-now blow!!!!

Tickle my fancy!

Woah there Neddy!!! Don't you just love the phrase 'tickle my fancy' ? It's open to so much interpretation doncha think??!!! I've had these feathers for a while & decided to use them on a card with this naughty little sentiment on! I covered the front of a card with pink patterned paper & added a panel of another design. I cut out the fillagree heart and another heart from script paper. I added the fillagree heart to the solid heart with slivers of foam pads. I added a feather, a paper rose & ribbon bow. That lace across the bottom & top of the panel is self adhesive by Siesta Craft (200cms of 4 different designs- 800cms in total!) I cut out the sentiment in plain pink card & dk.pink glitter paper.

Butterfly Kisses

Happy Bank Holiday everyone! Now, I'm not overly fond of butterflies as an embellishment on a card but when I saw this paper from the DCWV Spring Stack, it was so brightly coloured that I thought I'd have a go with it! I used this very simple layout that I've used before using 2 designs of paper matted & layered on top of a panel of Doodlebug embossed paper. I cut & glittered a scalloped oval frame and added a layered flower with ribbon bow and a Papermania velvet brad in the middle. I wanted to add something else to the frame so I cut out 2 butterflies from scrap patterned paper, creased them down the middle & arranged them either side of the flower. I added 3 gems to the top right-hand corner of the white panel and some glitter to the edge of the butterflies wings. I added a sentiment & decorative strip to the inside.

And now for something completely different!

Well, for me anyway! I don't think that I have but a 3D project on my blog as yet so it's a first! Lauren designed this little bag over on her blog (she's made tons and they are ALL gorgeous!) but me being me decided to try & copy it myself rather than download a template. So armed with a picture, some paper & a pencil I set to work. It took a couple of tries but I did it and this is the end result! A decent copy I think!
Thanks, Lauren ,for the inspiration!

So Precious.

The layout and sentiment for this card is almost a CASE of a card that I saw whilst blog hopping, but I've tweaked it about a bit. I used Blueberry Hill paper again and added a punched border strip across the middle. The large panel is adorned with a crochet flower and a gorgeous vintage-style epoxy sticker bought from Target in Sydney. The precious plaque was cut from white card, run through the Xyron and glittered with glamour dust. A ribbon bow, pink pearls & inside sentiment finish off the card.

Precious in His sight

When I saw this paper which is covered in little phrases suitable for either birth or baptism I wanted to team it with this fab cross, which I have used so much,to make a baptism card. I think that this would be suitable for an adult or older child to celebrate their day. You could also use it for a confirmation or maybe even for someone entering the priesthood or becoming a nun. There are several colours on it included a light brown that does not exclude it from being used for guy cards too! I didn't want to cover too much of the paper because the words are so nice so I kept the embellishment quite small. I just cut out a plaque, added the sentiment and decorated it with the cross and some layered flowers & handcut leaves.I backed the heart with some gossamer paper and added some bling.

Pink Wild Card Wedding!

Here is another of the Wild Card Wedding cards but with the addition of pink! It was made in exactly the same way as the last wedding card but I used pink paper behind the swirly aperture (paper from The Works) and some Cricut generated butterflies this time (StoryBook). Instead of a printed insert I cut
'the Bride & Groom' from silver paper and added it behind the 'window'

Birdy Birthday!

Isn't this paper just gorgeous?! When I saw it I just had to have it! It's a very pretty peachy pink colour with soft green accents and lots of antique birdcages, butterflies & birdies! I found this layout whilst blog hopping and tweaked it a little. I used dotty paper to cover the card front & cut 2 panels with the birdcage paper. I added satin ribbon a layered flower and some bling. I made a chipboard bird by cutting 3 shapes (2 in card & 1 in paper) stuck them together then sanded the edges for a distressed feel. A panel of Bazzil swiss dots paper holds the sentiment & the chipboard bird. As usual I decorated the inside too!

If friends were flowers.....

Blue is not a colour that I use very often for cards (except for baby cards of course) so this lovely paper from Dovecraft really caught my eye, and when teamed with yellow it made for a really summery combo! The colour is much more vibrant in real life. I covered the front of the card with the blue daisy print paper and added a band of yellow paper across the middle with ribbon & knot trim. I cut out a frame from pearlised card, backed with another paper with white 'stitched' flowers on it. The frame was raised on foam pads. Layered flowers, blue pearls and inside sentiment & decoration complete the card. Oh, I also glittered the outside sentiment & the centres of the daisies!

Karate Birthday

I've made a few crossover cards in the past so when my BIL Steve's birthday was due I decided to use one for his card. Steve is a Karate Blackbelt & a Sensei and these crossover cards are ideal to make a ghi shaped card. I adhered 2 cards together and cut opposing diagonals. Although you can't see it on the photo, I added a wide strip of card with faux stitching on it across the inside back 'neck' edge & down the two diagonal cut edges (click on photo to enlarge detail) . I added a mini 'label' on the neck edge, wide black ribbon for the belt and the SEKU (Shotokan of England Karate Union) logo to the font. I computer generated a greeting on Safmat and adhered it to the inside back. Super simple but just the job!!

Wild Card Wedding

I love the Wild Card cartridge, but I have to say that it works better for the Expression machine as some of the cards cut very small on the original bug, but don't despair! You can make a fabbo feature on the front of a standard card instead of a stand alone card as I have done here. I cut the pretty filagree oval card sized to fit the front of a 5x7" card. I backed the front of the oval card with some pretty printed angel-hair type paper from The Works. I covered the front of the main card with some Doodlebug embossed paper matted onto silver mirri. I adhered the oval card to some silver mirri cut to shape with deckle edged scissors. I then decorated the oval card with white flowers with pearl centres & some little embellie butterflies that came free with a mag at Christmas. I punched a hole on the right hand side of the oval, put an eyelet in & threaded swirly ribbon through it ( I trapped the other piece of ribbon under the oval before I adhered it to the card front) To finish the decoration I added some pearls in each corner and at either end of the flower arrangement. I computer generated the greeting onto Safmat and put it inside the oval card. I decorated the inside of the main card with the sentiment 'your big day'. This card has gone to India with my other half to be presented to the bride & groom, Swati & Kalpesh, tomorrow at their wedding!

Commission card

This is a card I made for a commission. The brief was a card for a 35th birthday with a fashion theme. The colour was left up to me. One of my fave combos is hot pink & black so I went with it for this card. I hand cut a dress & stand from pink glitter paper (dress) & silver mirri (stand). There is a beautiful dress on the Wedding Solution cart but it has a very large skirt & I wanted the dress to be slinky! I added a blowsy bow to the waist & tiny black gems as straps & a necklace. I added polka dot paper, Doodlebug velvet paper scalloped frame, a layered flower and the sentiment cut from black & pink glitter paper. I also added a bit of bling to the frame! I added a computer generated insert.

It's your day!

I haven't used George & Basic Shapes for ages so I decided to bring it out of mothballs & use it on this card! Poor George, he doesn't get used much these days with all the new yummy carts about! I used the Blueberry Hill paper again, covering the front of the card with one paper & a panel with another. The panel was edged with a Fiskars border punch. I added another smaller offset panel in cream which holds the sentiment. A satin ribbon & bow, a large flower, candy dots & glitter complete the card.

I continued the circular theme of the paper on this card with the plaque on the front. The paper is from DCWV Spring Stack I cover the front of the card with 2 designs separated with a punched border. I added a satin ribbon & bow then adhered it to the front of the card. I cut a plaque consisting of a scalloped circle & 2 smaller circles, layered them up then added a sentiment & flowers. I also added some candy dots & bling. The sentiment was glittered. This card was made with the Regency Collection by Papermania. I covered the front with one design, then made a panel edged with a punched border with another. I then added a smaller panel, slightly offset, to hold the sentiment. I placed this panel over a wine coloured velvet ribbon & bow. A large flower & 6 candy dots (little paper domes) were used for embellishment. I made a chipboard heart by cutting the heart shape 3 times- 2 in card & 1 in paper- then stuck them all together and sanded the edges to slightly distress them. I adhered the heart with a foam pad and put the rest of the sentiment beneath it. As usual I decorated the inside.Carts used:

Happy Birthday pressie!

Isn't this pressie fab?! I cut the pressie out of yellow card and the bow out of dark pink card and ran both of them topside down through the Xyron. I then glittered them with yellow & pink glitter then stuck the bow onto the pressie. I cut a piece of green card, edged it with a piece of blue scalloped card & wrapped polka dot ribbon around the bottom of it and added a flower to the bow. I then adhered the pressie onto the green panel. I cut away half of the front of the card & covered back & front with different but toning papers from DCWV Spring Stack. I edged the front of the card with a scalloped border. I made a white panel to go over the striped paper to hold the sentiment. I cut a '2' and a 'U' from pink & blue card and glittered them in the same way that I did the pressie. I adhered the 2 to the front & the U to the back t0 finish.

Happy16th Birthday!

It was our eldest son Naren's birthday last Sunday and this is the card that I made for him. I cut away half of the front of the base card and covered it inside and out with the same paper. I downloaded a line drawing of a set of drums (Naren is a VERY good drummer and has played at school at the Christmas service) from Google images. I coloured it with Gelly Roll Glitter Pens and cut it out. I applied opal dust to the front of the drum & Naren's nickname 'NAZ' with rub-ons . I mounted it onto a large star cut from blue holographic card. I also cut 'SON' & '16'
from the same card. I stuck the embellished star to the front of the card with half of the star hanging over the front and adde the SON & 16 with foam pads. I punched some gold star from mirri card and scattered them about to finish.

Vintage Grandad

I don't normally use ready made embellies, but when I saw this vintage car at The PaperMill Shop I HAD to buy it! I mounted the car onto blue & red cardstock embellished with brads. I mat & layered a piece of dogstooth paper from DCWV and added a simple sentiment which was shadowed in red.. Less really is more when it comes to guy cards don't you think?!

Warmest Wishes On your Birthday

I got this lovely paper from The Range last week. It's called Blueberry Hill from Papermania's Signature range, and there is also another collection called Regency. They are really lush!!
Blueberry Hill has little rosebuds, trellis roses, tartans and paisleys all in shades of pink, yellow & mint. I'll be showing a few cards made with these collections later. I used 2 different designs of paper for this card with a white spotty Bazzill panel on top. The white panel was edged with a Fiskars Border punch. I added three flowers with rosebuds added to the centres, pale pink satin bow & some gems. I added sentiments inside & out. The outside sentiment is glittered.

Bright & cheerful birthday!

This card is really bright & cheerful thanks to the paper from DCWV Spring Glitter Stack. The layout was borrowed from another blog out there in bloggyland. I cut three panels from the green paper and mounted them onto pink card, trapping a piece of ribbon below the middle panel. The strip across the middle was taken from another paper in the stack and is printed with flowers & little birds. I added a glittered scalloped circle, layered flower, sentiment and a large bird cut from the paper which was mounted onto the scalloped circle with foam pads.

I'm Sorry......

This is another card made with the sketch I like so much! I used more paper from DCWV,wide satin ribbon, layered flower & home-made gem swirl. I added extra gems & glitter and decorated the inside to say 'I missed your birthday'. This could be turned into a sympathy card by using muted colours & changing the inside sentiment to 'for your loss'.

Crafty tip!

I thought I'd let you all in on what I use for generating my inside card sentiments. Paper! Simple as that! It cuts small letters much better than cardstock, especially intricate curly fonts like All Mixed Up or Loop De Lou . I collected all my paper that I've had from The Paper Mill cut it into A5 size & put it in a box. There are tons of colours which you can match up (otherwise just use black) and it cuts like a knife through butter! Put your blade depth and your pressure at 4 (med on Expression) and you will be good to go! You will save yourself a load of headache & wasted cardstock, believe me!
Hope this little tip helps. Let me know!
Heather

Delightful!

Chandeliers seem to be everywhere at the moment so I thought that I'd go with the flow with this one! Sorry about the poor photo BTW! I wanted the chandelier which was cut from black mirri card, to look as though it was hanging, so I suspended it from a 'pelmet' cut from a piece of contrasting paper by Pink Petticoat. The main backing paper is from Clare Curd by Papermania. I used hot pink card for contrast. The white panel is Dotty Bazzil edged with a Fiskars border punch. I wrapped hot pink ribbon around the 'pelmet' and added a bow & large layered flower. Although you can't see them, there are black Papermania gems on the droplets of the chandelier. I also decorated the inside.
